Deep Tissue and Therapeutic Massage
Pressure Vs Depth
Deep tissue massage focuses on the deeper soft tissue structures. Deep tissue doesn’t mean push as hard as you can. This quite often misses the structures needing work. The body has multiple layers of muscle, fascia, ligaments, tendons, cartilage, nerves, vessels etc. Understanding these structures and addressing each within a session leads to successful expansion and increased flexibility of the system. Including neuromuscular technique into the mix adds another element to treatment. This technique neutralizes and re-educates the body nervous system eliminating patterns causing chronic tension. Myofascial release adds the element of slowly and gently expanding the soft tissue structures with continuous gentle stretching/holding. This gives soft tissue time to expand without injury. Trigger point therapy focuses on muscle fiber adhesions. Points where the fibers have fused together from overuse or injury. Continuous pressure is held until the fibers give way. This frees the fibers to fully expand. Facilitated stretching then resets the neuromuscular patterns so improved flexibility can be maintained.
Next time you book a massage, instead of asking, can you go deep, ask, do you know how to work all the soft tissue structures for full expansion and flexibility?
Is the practice to receive this amazing treatment.
